Author Responsibilities
Authors publishing with Loreto College Academic Press (LCAP) are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical conduct. To ensure a transparent and credible scholarly environment, authors must adhere to the following responsibilities:
- Integrity and Originality
- Original Work: Authors must submit only original scholarship that has not been published elsewhere in its entirety.
- Plagiarism Prevention: Any use of external ideas, text, or data must be meticulously cited. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited and monitored via detection software.
- Accuracy: Authors are solely responsible for the factual claims, data accuracy, and the integrity of the research presented in their books.
- Ethical Conduct in Research
- Standards: Research must comply with professional and institutional ethical guidelines.
- Consent: Any work involving human participants or sensitive data must include statements of ethical approval and informed consent.
- Disclosure: All funding sources and potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, or personal) must be transparently disclosed at the time of submission.
- Authorship and Collaboration
- Attribution: Only those who have made significant scholarly contributions should be listed as authors. General contributors should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section.
- Co-Author Approval: The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript before it is uploaded to the platform.
- Submission Discipline
- Single Submission: Manuscripts must not be under consideration by any other publisher or journal simultaneously.
- Technical Compliance: Authors must follow the LCAP formatting, structure, and reference style guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these technical standards may be returned before entering the peer-review stage.
- Engagement with the Editorial Process
- Timely Revisions: Authors are expected to respond promptly to editorial feedback and peer-review suggestions.
- Supporting Evidence: When requested, authors should be prepared to provide raw data or supplementary materials for verification purposes.
- Final Proofing: Before the digital launch, authors must conduct a final, rigorous review of the page proofs. As this is an open-access platform, the version approved for publication becomes the permanent record.
- Copyright and Permissions
- Third-Party Material: Authors must secure written permission for any copyrighted figures, images, or extensive text excerpts included in the work.
- Open Access Licensing: Authors retain copyright but agree to publish their work under the Press’s Creative Commons licensing policy, ensuring global reach and accessibility.
- Post-Publication Integrity
- Error Notification: If an author discovers a significant error after the book is live on the platform, they must notify the Press immediately to coordinate a formal correction or erratum in accordance with our editorial policy.
