Abstract

Gender and politics studies the intersection between gender studies and political science. Gender and politics scholars are becoming important in the wider community of political science. They focus on the aspect that women were excluded as political actors. Women’s underrepresentation needs to be corrected. The feminist political scientists were aware of the ‘gendered’ nature of political mechanisms and activities. The study of gender and politics is broad and impartial. It is diverse, rich and substantial in nature. “The presence of the ‘critical mass’ of women in the legislature expresses the legislative attention to women’s issues”(Sarah Childs, Mona Lena Krook, 2016). The approach provides a platform to scientifically study the impacts of patriarchy on representation in various contexts. It is a field which also helps us to understand the reasons behind the less representation of women historically in formal and informal politics.
