Abstract
This article examines the transformation of institutional communication at Argentina’s Palacio Nacional de las Artes during the COVID-19 pandemic as a form of institutional activism centred on marginalised identities. Drawing on a qualitative case study of the FUTURA digital cycle, the analysis considers social media posts, live-streamed events and official documents in order to explore how the museum reconfigured its regimes of visibility, mediation and legitimacy. The findings suggest that digital communication operated as a site of symbolic dispute in which historically marginalised bodies and subjectivities gained renewed conditions of appearance within a national cultural institution. Rather than functioning merely as an outreach strategy, the FUTURA cycle enabled the museum to experiment with non-conventional forms of cultural activism, reshaping its modes of public address and renegotiating the boundaries between institutional authority and dissident cultural production.
