Abstract
In recent years, discussions surrounding LGBTQ+ identities in Ghana have intensified, particularly within digital platforms and political discourse. While global movements advocate visibility and open expression, the Ghanaian context reveals a contrasting dynamic in which silence becomes a central mode of negotiating identity. This study introduces the concept of queer silence to examine how public morality, religious ideology, and cultural nationalism regulate LGBTQ+ identities. Drawing on data from online news articles, social media commentaries, TikTok videos, and protest imagery collected between 2023 and 2026, the study employs Critical Discourse Analysis to explore how meanings of sexuality are constructed and contested.
